Waka Station

Waka Station is approximately 70km east of Camerons Corner.

 

Farmed by Bodie and Racheal Hill,the property boast a huge 130,000 acres, where sheep and cattle are there main source of income.

Having not long taken over Waka from previous owner Kelvin Westbrook,

The young couple managed both Waka and Lake Stewart for Kelvin Westbrook for several years before making the decision to purchase the property.

 

prior to Kelvin's ownership the property has been apart of Racheal's family for many years. 

 

There expectations of a shearing,are simply good communication and consistancy, having had some bad experiences with shearing teams in the past the couple hoped to rectify these problems by trying a new contractor.

 

Bodie and racheal try really hard to make sure they have everything ready at shearing time, they have just finished renovating the old wooshed to be ready for this there first shearing at Waka.

 

The Drug Free policy is appreciated here at Waka.

Racheals speaks of how good it feels to be able to bring her young children into the shed knowing the enviroment is safe from drug users, and bodie has experienced the deterioration of work standards by lunch time from some in the past.

 

Plans for the future are are simply to keep improving the buildings a little bit each year, they feel that they have a good line of sheep and will keep working on the wool,

and in general to just enjoy the family and country life for what it has to offer.

 

Bodie and Racheal enjoy in there spare time playing in a local band at the odd gymkana and local functions, Bodie plays the guitar and Racheal sings,

the enthusiastic couple enjoy their lifestyle and choose  to be very positive and happy people.
