Scarsdale Station

Scarsdale station is approximately 60,000 acres in size and the Smith family have owned the property for the last 14 years. The family has a long farming history with Terry's Grandfather starting out with Harcourt Station back in 1892 and the family has been there ever since and between them now own a couple of properties including Scarsdale.

Come shearing time, Terry endeavours to have everything prepared and ready to go for the shearing team and then works hard to keep the sheep in good order and moving through. Terry enjoys shearing time and says it's a great time of year. Because of the preparations Terry finds the time quite relaxing and enjoyable.

Terry is a strong believer in the Paewai Shearing no drugs policy and has seen the change in the team this year noting that the team seems more calm and relaxed and the work is of a high standard. Terry believes it's a great initiative and good for the industry.

Future plans include taking control of a new 100,000 acre property they've recently purcased. When not working Terry is involved in around 7 or 8 executive positions with various community organisations. Terry enjoys giving back to the communit and hopes he helps make to make a difference.
