Balaclava Station

Balaclava Station

Balaclava Station is situated approximately 25kms south of Broken Hill.

It's owned and operated by Kelly and Tabitha Bright and between them have a wealth of experience in the industry.Kell'y's parents Dallas and Helen also live at Balaclava and play a big part helping out during the busy times.

Originally from Kingston in the south east, Kelly's family has always been involved in the sheep and beef scene as far back as several generations, and also has other members of the family that own properties around the Broken Hill region.

The property consists of 140,000 acres on which they run approximately 12,000 sheep and a herd of cattle.

In recent years they have added to the property by purchasing a neighbouring block called Oakdale.

Kelly's expectations of a shearing team are unlike most growers, they like to see shearers and wool staff with good attitudes and a reasonable level of skill to get the job done properly.

Kelly always tris hard to make sure there side of shearing is right by having plenty of sheep mustered and to present them in the best condition that seasons will allow, the facilities are also a priority for the family, just recently having renovated a new kitchen in the a quarters and other ereas that need attention from time to time.

Balaclava supports the Drug free Policies that Paewai Shearing have in place, kelly mentioned that other industries have no drug laws and its time the shearing industry followed suit.

Kelly and Tabitha have two daughters and or though times are very rear, try to get away for some family time when possible.

Family plans for the future, do do the best they can for there children and hopefully look forward to a relaxing and well earned retirement.
