Glen Idol Station

Glen Idol Station

Glen Idol Station is approximately 60km east of Broken Hill on the Wilcannia road,

Owned and operated by the Gibson family, Rob and Diane have been on the property for the last twenty seven years, in which that time they owned Metford and Hazelvale neighbouring stations, and in recent years have sold these properties and down sized to Glen Idol.

The station is approimately 60,000acres they run about three thousand sheep and a small mob of cattle.

Robs son Ben and wife Chantal assume most of the day to day operations now, allowing Rob and Diane to take a back seat and help out during the busy times when a second hand is needed.

Rob expects a good job done at shearing time, he likes to see the sheep shorn cleanly.

Him and Ben make sure the sheep are handy and anything that needs repairing is taken care of before the shearing team arrives.

Rob thinks the Drug Free policies is a good idea, and feels that theres just to much of it around,he say that it can't do you any good and that you must pay for it in the end.

The families hobbies are they like to go fishing when they can, and the plans for the future is for Rob and Diane to retire a bit later on down the track, and to keep helping out when needed.
