Ravendale Station

Ravendale Station

Ravendale Station is a good 1.5 to 2 hour drive from Broken Hill and after a drop of rain requires a good set of wheels to get there! With over 94,000 acres of land there's plenty of room for the couple hundred head of cattle and 6,000 sheep.

Bill owned and worked on the property next door to Ravendale Station from 1953 before expanding the property in 1960 to its current size.

With many years experience in the wool industry, Bill understands what it takes to get a good job done. He expects the shearing team to get in and get the work done with as little hassle as possible. Having expereinced a range of different shearing teams, Bill understands the importance of having the facilities prepared and ready to go, and will often spend a couple of months getting things prepared. He also has had it drilled into him early on that as a grower you make sure that you don't run out of sheep for the shearing team.

Bill knows first hand the challanges that come from addictions and is a firm believer and supporter of the Paewai Shearing no drugs policy.

With no apparent interest from his children to take over the property after Bill retires, his future plans include renovating a house in town with his wife ready for a move when the time is right.
